Pavement Constructors roots began in 1914 with the first generation R.L. Murphey, of Corsicana TX, mixing Portland cement and gravel in the back of a horse drawn wagon.  As his business grew so did the scope and scale of projects.  He poured most of the foundations and sidewalks in downtown and placed the first airport runway in Corsicana.  In old downtown Corsicana, you can still find the old “Murphey Concrete” stamp.

Second-generation Howard Thomas Murphey, Sr. expanded the construction capabilities of the company adding new machinery and updated technologies.

Third generation Tom Murphey II moved the company to Houston in 1976, starting Custom Paving, Inc..  Toms honesty, hard work and professional quality proved successful for Custom Paving, Inc.  It is still in practice today and is held up as our
companies core values.

Today the fourth-generation family tradition lives on with Matt Murphey. Building on the experiences of the past and improving with the technologies of the present.  We look forward to what the future holds and hopefully you will give the team at Pavement Constructors an opportunity to wok with you.
